Some Notes on the city:
- The capital and largest city of the Czech Republic.
- Official name: hlavní město Praha (means: the Capital City of Prague)
- Situated on the River Vltava in central Bohemia.
- Political, cultural, and economic center of the Czech state for over 1100 years.
- Population around 1.2 million people.(2007)
- One of the most beautiful cities in Europe and apperantly one of the most visited cities on the continent.
- The historic centre is in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
- Nicknames: "the mother of cities", "city of a hundred spires", "the golden city".

(*) Charles Bridge: a stone Gothic bridge that connects the Old Town and Malá Strana. Its construction was commissioned by Czech King Charles IV and began in 1357.
One tower stands on each end of the bridge. Baroque statues (a total of 30) was placed on either side of Charles Bridge in the 17th century. Not only with tourists but the bridge is also popular with Czech artists, musicians and souvenir vendors. The sunset is the great time of day on the bridge to enjoy a breathtaking views of the fully lit Prague Castle against the evening sky (see it on the Part 3 page).
A pedestrian zone, the bridge is almost constantly filled with people!.
