Gruezi from Lucerne!

4 Aug 2007

We had a day trip to Lucerne while staying in Bern. The weather was beautiful, and both the Lake and the town of Lucerne has stunned us with their spectacular beauties. We saw crystal clear lakes ringed with snow capped mountains, hemmed with lush pastures, and criss-crossed with cog-wheel railroads... Here is a short story of our trip...

We took the GoldenPass Panaromic train from a town close to Bern to travel to Lucerne. Here is a view taken from the train.

Here is our train!

We saw snow capped mountains on our way...

Still in the train... What a backdrop!

One of the many beatiful Swiss houses we saw along the way...

We got off the train and continued our way to Lucerne by boat. It was a sensational day and trip...

Double click to view this photo above in full size... Check out the seagulls and the colour of the lake..

Guess, which country's flag is that ? :-)

Still on the boat, getting closer to Lucerne as can be seen...

No, it is not the French Riviera, similar, the Lucerne Riviera.

Lucerne from a distance...

You wanted a map? Here 'tis!

Some info about Lake Lucerne:

- Lake Lucerne is called "Vierwaldstättersee" in German, which means “Lake of Four Forest Cantons”.

- the fourth biggest lake of Switzerland.

- reaches from the mountains into the city of Lucerne.

- The total area 114 km² and the max dept 214m.

- Much of the shoreline rises steeply into mountains, up to 1500m above the lake. Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus two of these spectacular mountains.

That's all from the lake... See you in the next section which is dedicated to the town of Lucerne... Auf Wiedersehen for now... :-)
