Frederiksborg Castle
- In the 3 days we stayed, we come to conclusion that Copenhagen is the city of "5 minutes rain for 5 minutes sun"
- The Frederiksborg Castle was magnificient with a breathtaking historic garden. It made the visit to Copenhagen worthwhile...
- Copenhagen city center is surprisingly not very appealing... Outer suburbs seemed much more pleasant.
- We stayed in the Absolon Hotel which was kind of a disappointment after Stockholm's Birger Jarl. However still OK.
- Frederiksborg Castle is located 45 min to the city center, in a town/suburb called Hillerod. It stands on three islets in the middle of the Castle Lake and houses both the Museum of National History and the Castle Chapel which features the famous Compenius Organ.
- We learnt: The Frederiskborg Castle was built in the early 17th century by Christian IV (one of the Kings of Denmark) and the Baroque garden was designed by Johan Cornelius Krieger.
